Abstract:
Both elastic and inelastic neutron scattering play an important part in the characterisation and
understanding of molecular magnetic materials. Transitions to magnetic order and the
distribution of magnetisation density are determined by (polarised) neutron diffraction. In spin
clusters energy splittings due to exchange interactions and single-ion anisotropy are
determined by inelastic neutron scattering, thus providing insight into the relevant coupling
mechanisms.
