Education

Bachelor in Physics at the University of Cantabria in 1992. Theoretical study of covalence, optical and magnetic properties in 3d5 and 4d9 transition metal complexes. Advisors: J. A. Aramburu-Zabala and M. T. Barriuso.

Doctor in Physics at the University of Cantabria in 1998. Charge transfer spectroscopy of copper systems. Structural correlations. Advisor: Professor Fernando Rodriguez.

Postdoc at the University of Bern until January 2001.

Research field

1) Theoretical calculation of optical and magnetic properties in Transition Metal complexes. Dependence on metal-ligand distances. Extended-Hückel and MS-Xa programs.

2) Single crystal synthesis and characterization of doped materials with transition metal complexes: Cu2+, Mn2+, ... Resolve and checking of crystal structure through X-ray diffraction.

3) Optical, magnetic and structural properties of insulating materials. Temperature (10-600 K).

4) Study of the local structure of Jahn-Teller complexes using EPR techniques and polarized charge transfer spectra.

5) Optical spectroscopy at high pressure with DAC (1-100 kbar).

6) Correlation between crystal field, charge transfer spectra and local structure of 3d complexes. Phase transitions.
